sunday's thwacks and shout-outs.

Thwack (verb) : to strike with, or as if with, something flat or heavy.
Shout-out (noun) : a public expression of gratitude or recognition.

Thwacks:

1.) I took Lola and Trudy to the park on Friday.  It just so happened to be the day after the husband gave them a much needed bath.  A few throws into playing fetch, Lola found "the mud puddle"... and of course rolled and rolled.... and rolled around in it.  Ooopsies, sorry husband : )  This puddle has a name, "the mud puddle", because Lola always, without fail, finds it when we go to the park.  Stink pot.

2.) The husband had to be in class Friday night from 4:30-9:30, then again all day on Saturday from 8:00-5:00.  Boooooo.  And that's after a long full-time week at work.  The upside of that is he loaded our ginormous computer chair into the car and used it in class all day on Saturday.  NBD.  #backsaver

3.) So my best friend is getting married in a couple of months, and I realize this in and of itself is very much a shout-out.  I've been struggling, though, with how far away I am from her during such a special time (400.17 miles, 2,114,481.6 feet, and 6.5 hours, to be exact).  I feel like she's planned so much of her wedding, and I haven't been able to be a part of it like I always imagined.  Not dear Jamie's fault at all, just a natural product of the distance between us.  Jamie is that friend that I can talk to about anything, anytime, and I know she always cares, always listens, and always gives honest and sometimes tough-to-hear feedback.  She's just the best.

I'm so excited for her big day though - I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of the best days of my life too.  Is that weird?

Please look at how happy my best friend is.

 Shout-outs:

1.) I had the BEST catch-up lunch with a former colleague and friend, Cacy.  We shared about work, husbands, her future trip to Italy, and just life in general.  I just love her.

She also brought me from her garden some fresh herbs, a giant zucchini, and a giant squash... seriously the biggest I've ever seen in my life... I honestly didn't know they grew that big.

So naturally this weekend I made 4 batches of zucchini bread.

And I tried a new recipe that I found on Pinterest... zucchini fritters.  Kinda like crab cakes, I think?  I don't know, I've never had crab cakes.

I also made another big batch of applesauce.  I used a slew of apples in my photo shoot with Apple Brides, and didn't want to waste them!  It's fall time, and apparently I'm Susie Homemaker all of the sudden.  Go figure.

2.) Our new roommate Sam moved in last weekend!  She's living with us while she attends EWU for grad school, and we love that she'll be a part of our little fam for 9 months!

3.) The candelabras I ordered for the Butterfly Affair that I'm styling and coordinating in October finally arrived at my doorstep!  They are lovely and perfect.  I can't wait to pull the vision together that's floating around in my head, and to see the final product.

4.) Done it.

5.) I saw this picture on Facebook this week, and about died.

Meet Owen, my husband's cousin's son.  Which I realize makes it sound like he's very distant from me, but he's not.  We don't see them as often as we'd like, especially considering they live like 5 blocks from us, but isn't that always the case in life?

This was my comment on his mom's Facebook page, word for word:

"Um seriously?  Miniature red TOMS?  This is ridiculous."

That about sums it up.

Cheers.

pumpkin schmumpkin.

Try saying that 5 times fast.  I tried already.  It's haaaaaard.

In essence of celebrating today being the first day of fall (spirit fingers!), I'm pretty sure it's a must to talk about pumpkins.  Because what else do you think of besides fall when you see pumpkins?

I'm loving all of these cute, creative ways to incorporate this gourd-like squash into your fall wedding decor.

 I LOVE FALL!

For all of you Spokane-ites, aren't you excited for Green Bluff pumpkin harvest time?

I can't wait for Harvest House's giant cinnamon rolls and homemade pumpkin donuts.

And to race all of the little kids out of picking out the biggest pumpkin.

Cheers.

bethany got married.

Wow.  So I disappeared from the blogging world. Hopefully you noticed, because that means you read what I write!  For awhile there, I was so busy with wedding stuff, that I just didn't have any extra time to post.  Then I just got out of the swing of things and couldn't figure out how to get back into it.  But I've missed it.  A lot. So hiiii friends hi.

Anyhoo. Moving on.

I have this good pal from back home named Chelsea.  Her sister, Bethany aka Biffo (do people still call her that?) got married a couple of weekends ago. I have fond memories of Biffo... she led a bible study with some of Chels and my close friends when we were younger.  I totes remember a beach weekend getaway with that crew - that's where I first heard the band La Rue and listened to Always Be on repeat.  And I'm pretty sure we danced in the living room all weekend long.  Sweet, sweet memories.

I want to share Biffo's wedding video with you. Her nuptials are overflowing with sweetness.  She's a precious, precious lady.

Aren't they just the cutest??

Side note: you really need to check out the baby rescue operation Bethany started in South Africa called BabySafe.  It "focuses on desperate new mothers, providing an alternative to throwing their babies away (a common problem [t]here). Bethany and her crew of committed full-time volunteers routinely perform pregnancy counseling and adoption facilitation for birth mothers, as well as receive abandoned babies."

You can read more about John and Bethany's life together here.

Cheers.

my friends were on style me pretty.

So I have these friends from home (Salem, OR) whose wedding was featured on STYLE ME PRETTY yesterday.

Yes, you heard me, Style Me Pretty.  Just the biggest wedding website in the world, nbd.

These are the friends that the husband and I had the pleasure of spending time with over Labor Day Weekend while the amazing photographer, Erich McVey, did a photo shoot of us.

He and his adorable new wife, Amy, got married a couple of months ago.

You have to go here to see the entire spread they put together.  It's kinda non-negotiable.

Oh, be still my beating heart.

Cheers.
