i'm baaaaaack.

Hi friends.  I'm back.  Did you miss me?   I sure missed you!

Didn't you love all of those fabulous posts from my lovely friends that were willing to hold down the fort while I was traipsing around Italy with my mom?  And the husband, isn't he a gem?  I was impressed with their creativity - I loved coming back to read their posts!  Well, really, in all honesty, I read most of them while I was in Italy... I just couldn't stay away.  I may or may not be embarrassed about that.

So, while I was gone, I received a wedding invitation in the mail.  As with all wedding invitations this family receives, the husband waits for me to open them.  I love opening wedding invitations... it's like Christmas morning for me.

This wedding invitation is like nothing I've ever received before.  It was so creative yet simple...no fancy paper, not a gazillion pieces of paper included, no glitter, no embossing, no calligraphy, just simple... simply awesome. And it was so so personal to the couple, who they are together, how they met, and just gave you a glimpse into their personalities and their relationship together.  And knowing Sam (the bride), the style and content of it was so perfectly her, which I adored.

The words went like this...

Samantha & Guy
(commonly referred to as lion & penguin)
Met in high school
While she ignorantly believed they were friends
He adamantly declared they were not
Just the same, they spent a lot of time together
Same circle of friends
Same beach trips
Same Five Iron Frenzy shows
Same youth group band
Same favorite movie
And yet they hardly remember each other
Three years, six months, and seventeen days later
Through a combination of
Mutual socialization and innocuous flirting
They met again
This time they found each other much more memorable
They spent the next few months...
Building forts, composing love e-mails, constructing illegal bonfires, making art projects, holding hands, Generally oogling each other
It became a curious thing, how had they not seen each other before?
They began to see: their lives had been purposely composed
At a friend's party as their pounding hearts kept time with a flashing strobe light,
Guy asked Samantha to be his girlfriend
Two years, six months, and fifteen days later
Those same pounding hearts kept time with rolling ocean waves
As he asked her to be his wife
And so the story was told throughout the land
Sometimes the second look is the look that changes your life
Now that we are all on the same page...

How stinking cute is that?

Sam and Guy, cheers to you for thinking outside the box!  It turned out lovely.

Cheers.

  1. I love this! It's super similar to my own wedding invitation design (which haven't been printed yet).
