style that takes the cake.

Before I even shift my brain from spreadsheets and graphs (day job, public accounting firm), to weddings, I already know I'm going to love writing this post and will most likely be drooling by the time I'm done!  True sign of a sweet tooth right there.

It is amazing to me the talent and creativity I see in wedding cakes these days.  I mean, some of this stuff should be housed in museums as beautiful pieces of art and craftsmanship.  And to think these things get sliced right into and devoured without a second thought by wedding guests. Tisk tisk.

Just kidding.  I wouldn't let them go to waste either - no matter how pretty they are.  Cake is cake, which = delicious!

Mmmk, as suspected, my mouth is definitely watering. Isn't yours?

My favorites are:
#1. The overall style is right up my alley.  I'm not a huge fan of the color - my mom has always had this strange aversion to periwinkle, and I think it rubbed off on me.  Perhaps I would prefer it in a lime green.  But, I love love the details.

#4. I feel like I'm about to open up lots of little prezzies.  And I like prezzies.

#12.  This one looks the most appetizing to me, because if you don't already know, I'm a major choco-holic.

Do you have a favorite?

Happy Monday friends.

Cheers.

  1. Yup, mom definitely has an aversion to periwinkle. "Eewww..." she would say, with no more of an explanation needed. Ok, all of the cakes are amazing, but let's just look at the fact that, color aside, cake number one has BUTTONS!!!! I want a do over on my wedding now, because I NEED a cake with buttons,(which I happen to be obsessed with). Imagine the possibilities!!! Amy Butler-ish cutie buttons all over your wedding cake? I mean, should anyone from here on out be allowed a wedding cake without buttons? No, no they should not... I am leaving this blog now to call Joy and place a birthday cake order for myself! BIRTHDAY BUTTONS!!!

  3. #7 is clearly the winner here. It reminds me of my 2nd favorite childhood game: connect4. It also leads me to believe there is a delicious amount of confetti cake underneath that confetti frosting - I love confetti cake as evidenced by our having it at our wedding :>)

  4. I'm with miss Blog Writer herself when I vote for 12..it definitely looks the tastiest with what appears to be buttercream frosting (foodie knowledge.) Have you tasted fondant??? GROSS! Sure, it's pretty, but cake is cake and meant to be eaten which means it needs to be delicious. Now, if we're going on style only, I think I have to vote for 3. it's prefect in every way
