set apart your MOH.

A perfect and simple way to set apart your MOH - a different (and bright) colored sash.
I saw this picture and immediately knew who the honored lady was.  Not that all the bridesmaids aren't honored by standing with the bride, just saying the MOH should get a little extra somethin somethin.
Besides, she's probably put up with the most from the bride, don't you think?

brown bag favor.

Lately, I am in love with little brown bag favors.  And I think you should be too, because they are:

Adorable.
Inexpensive.
Easy to customize.
Simple to put together.

You can purchase a custom rubber stamp from Etsy, brown bags from your local craft store, and spice it up with a little ribbon or cute clip like the picture above.  You can fill it with anything you want, here are a few ideas:

Your favorite mints.
Your favorite candy.
A tea bag.
Chocolate covered espresso beans.
Vegetable or flower seeds.
Whatever your heart desires.

And voila! You have an adorable, affordable little brown bag favors for all of your guests.

Here's another one I adore.  Especially how they are displayed.

It's Valentine's Day.  Therefore, all things for you today are in the name of love.

Here are some tokens of love for you to peek at.

That is all I've got for you today, friends.  I have been up since 1:30 am, flying back to Washington from celebrating great grandma's 100th birthday in Texas.  So, needless to say, I'm spent.

Oh. Also. The husband gave me my Valentine's Day present on the plane this morning.  He got me a "wedding" photo shoot with our hometown friend and amazing photographer Erich McVey.  He displayed the surprise all cute-like in a flip book for me to look through.

Just for fun.
Just because he knows I love Erich's work.
Just because he knows it will be fun to blog about.
Just because he thinks it might help Violet Hills in one way or another.
Just because he's the best husband e.v.e.r.

So I've been dreaming all morning (wishing I was sleeping on the plane instead) about what I will wear.  If I could choose, it would be something along the lines of this, this, or these.  Or all of them.

The photo shoot will be later in the year - so something fun to look forward to!
And of course, I will post pictures.

I brought some Texas back with me - Happy Valentine's Day ya'll.

Cheers.

leaving on a jet plane.

Tomorrow, I have to wake up in the 5's.  It's NEVER a good thing to wake up in the 5's, especially on a weekend.  I only like to see 8's, or even 9's, on my clock on the weekends.

BUT, it's for a great reason, so I'll get over the whole "waking up in the 5's" thing - nothing a little Starbucks can't cure.  I am leaving for San Antonio, Texas to celebrate the husband's great grandmother's 100th birthday.  She turns 100 on Valentine's Day - how precious is that?

Here she is, when we were in Texas last, celebrating her 97th birthday a few years ago.

I love that the husband and I still receive hand-written letters from her.  And I also love knowing that she prays pretty much all day long.  She's one special lady - and we're very excited to be able to go celebrate her.

A couple of other important things to note:

1.) It is supposed to be 68ish degrees and sunny in San Antonio.  That is much better than the 25ish degrees and cloudy here.  That is a good trade. I will take it.

2.) We are only there for two days, and this is what my luggage for the trip looks like:

Just kidding.  But I don't think the husband or the family-in-law would be surprised, really.  I'm a notorious over-packer.

K friends - hope you all have a great weekend.  I'll be back and in business just in time to check out the new anthro line - can't wait!

Oh.  Ps.  I reached 50 followers today and I am thrilled about that!!  Teri, thank you for being my 50th.  Today was a very stressful day for me, so I'm happy to end it on that note, along with some chocolate that I just bought at the store to cure the bad-day blues.

Cheers.
